He is a descendent of fourteen generations of temple musicians and was a student of the famous Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar from the devotional Dhrupad tradition of India. He has performed in India and internationally for over 45 years. The youngest member ever of Ravi Shankar's orchestral group, he currently is a recording artist for Peter Gabriel's RealWorld Records.
